The Central Remedial Clinic Services for Children Waterford was established in 2001 in partnership with The Health Service Executive, South Eastern Area.
It is situated in the grounds of Waterford Regional Hospital and provides a Regional Assessment Service to all children with physical disability from the South Eastern region. The clinic also provides a local treatment service for children with physical disability in Waterford.
Regional Assessment Service
The Regional Assessment Service provides a consultation and advisory service for children with physical and multiple disabilities involving multidisciplinary team assessment as appropriate with the support of specialist clinics.
Children attending Waterford also have access to the CRC’s National Competencies as required.
Local Treatment Service
The multidisciplinary team also provides an assessment and treatment service to children from Waterford city and county as outlined below.
- Children 0-6 with special needs including physical disability and global development delay.
- Children 6-18 years with primary physical disability in mainstream education.

CRC Waterford works in collaboration with CRC Clontarf, Scoil Mochua and CRC Limerick to provide a comprehensive co-ordinated package of care to our service users. Staff work in co-operation with and alongside HSE treatment teams, schools and other agencies.

CRC Limerick
The Central Remedial Clinic centre based in St Gabriel’s Limerick is providing a range of services to people in the mid-West region. In April 2005, the world’s first mobile Gait Laboratory, developed by the Central Remedial Clinic, was launched from St Gabriel’s, providing a highly sophisticated and specialised service locally to the region. An adult and paediatric seating and mobility service is run from the centre, as is an Assitive Technology service.
