Head of Children’s Services

Full time permanent post, 35hrs per week based in Clontarf, expected to travel to other locations as required.

The CRC delivers a range of services to children and adults with disabilities both nationally and locally through our centres in Dublin, Limerick and Waterford and our Outreach Services. The mission of the CRC is that by working together we make a positive difference to the lives of people with disabilities, their families and carers. Our vision is that people with disabilities achieve their potential and live full lives as equal and valued citizens.

The CRC is Lead Agency for five Children’s Disability Network Teams [CDNT]. The Head of Children’s Services will have overall responsibility for the leadership, management, and delivery of Children’s Services under Progressing Disabilities, in the CRC.

The Head of Children’s Services will provide leadership and support to the Children’s Disability Network Managers [CDNM] and the network teams, to ensure consistent, effective service delivery to the children and families we support.

The successful candidate will be a key member of the Senior Management team and will be expected to work collaboratively with the Senior Management team for the good of the overall organisation. 

Applicants should have the following essential requirements:

  • A professional qualification in health or social care, e.g. Dietetics, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy and Social Work, and where appropriate be registered or be entitled to be registered on an appropriate professional register or a primary degree in another related area e.g. Business with significant operational experience in a health or social care setting.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a management role in a healthcare or social care environment with clear responsibilities for multiple service management and the directing and planning of departmental activities in conjunction with the management of staff and resources available.
  • A minimum of 3 years working in the Disability Sector.
  • Experience of leading and managing within a multi-disciplinary team environment is essential as is a proven ability to lead change initiatives.
  • An in depth understanding of the implementation and application of Progressing Children’s Disability Services
  • A management or business qualification is desirable.
