Practical two-day Orthotic course in CRC July 21, 2025 The NSS Occupational Therapists conducted a two-day practical course on orthotic (splinting) management for the upper limb in individuals with cerebral palsy at CRC Clontarf on July 3rd and 4th, 2025. This foundational course was designed for clinicians working in the field of Neurodisability, focusing on clients ranging from infants to adults with primary physical disabilities. Participants attended from across the country. The theoretical portion of the course covered topics such as atypical muscle tone, managing muscle overactivity, the trajectory of secondary complications, the evidence for orthotic use, and functional anatomy. Participants had the opportunity to enhance their practical skills in orthotic fabrication, improve their clinical reasoning, and learn how to create upper limb orthotics.
